Frequently Asked Questions

What it’s like to work with an interior designer.

  • Interior designers have a variety of specializations that are invaluable to a renovation, new build, or home furnishing project.

Home renovations: We optimize the flow of the home, create floor plans, develop interior architecture (you won’t need an architect), design fixed features, strategically select and procure materials and furnishings, involve the necessary trades for project execution, and manage your turnkey project from inception to completion.

Custom Homes: We work directly with your architect to develop interior architecture, design fixed features, and finalize the floor plan and flow of the space. We will also strategically select and procure materials and furnishings, work with your builder during project execution, and manage your turnkey project from start to the finish.

Home Furnishing: We will transform the home cosmetically with a fresh layout for flow, a color story, fixed elements (like paint, wallcoverings, and lighting), and furnishings, art, and decor. We procure all items and manage the installation to deliver a turnkey home.

  • As early as possible, even if it’s solely for an initial consultation. We specialize in the inside of your home, which is where you, your family, and your guests will spend time. Our early involvement is essential to creating a living experience that feels as luxuriously comfortable as it is novel and fresh.

Consulting us early will also allow us to identify your wisest order of operations, advise you on who else to hire, help you solve design dilemmas, and ensure that you are set up for success.

  • Yes. If you already have an architect, builder, or GC contracted, we will collaborate with them on the interior design, procurement, and implementation, as appropriate.

If you don’t have experts for these roles yet, we would be happy to make some introductions. We have spent the last decade building a network of professionals we know, work well with, and trust to take good care of you.

  • Full-home designs are our specialty, but we are open to transforming single rooms if they are top-to-bottom, turnkey transformations. This would include a fresh layout for flow, a color story, fixed elements (like paint, wallcoverings, and lighting), and furnishings, art, and decor. We would source and procure all items and manage any construction, cosmetic updates, and installation.

This service would be ideal for large living spaces, a full master suite, or an open concept space that includes a kitchen, dining area, and great room. You can reach out to us here to discuss your options.

  • We’re different — our portfolio doesn’t adhere to just one design style. Instead, it reflects our clients’ diverse tastes, the history of their homes, and a thrilling streak of the unexpected. We believe in pairing comfort with a spirit of innovation to create timeless yet novel spaces. As your creative visionary, we will work together to design something wholly new and irresistible.

  • Yes, and it’s to your advantage! Our carefully assembled network of trade-only vendors and suppliers offers you access to the highest quality products, the best customer service, and the greatest creative freedom for customization. We will source, personalize, and procure all materials and furnishings, saving you time and streamlining project efficiency and cross-team coordination. We’re confident you will love it.

  • Contrary to what some believe, there is no such thing as a designer discount. Instead, we benefit from to-the-trade pricing and clients purchase furnishings directly from us at the manufacturer’s MSRP rate. This gives us access to goods that you can’t find anywhere else, and at competitive rates for products of comparable quality, craftsmanship, and customization.

  • If you’re excited about shopping alongside your designer, we are probably not the right team for you. Our best work happens in our studio, where we have curated a vast collection of samples from the vendors and trades we have vetted and trust.

That said, we want you to be as involved in the design experience as you would like to be. During the Detailed Design Phase, you will get to see, feel, and share your thoughts on the samples that make up our creative vision for your space, such as tile, flooring, fabrics, wallpaper, hardware, etc.

  • Absolutely. If you have special heirlooms, collections, or antiques you would like to incorporate into the final design, we’re happy to do so. We believe in timeless and singular spaces, and your unique pieces help achieve this. During our initial conversations, we will take inventory of items you would like to keep — or any future heirlooms you might want to create.

  • Every project’s timeline is different, making it impossible to estimate before discussing the details. Your timeline will reflect the scope of work, the materials selected for the home (their availability, lead times, installation), the availability of trades, inclement weather, and more.

If you have a desired timeline, we will do our best to align the above factors with your goals. We will discuss feasibility and a general estimate during the Exploration Phase and refine the timeline further during the Conceptual Design Phase. You can discover more about our process here.

  • The overall investment in the design of your home will depend on scope, materials, level of personalization, installation requirements, labor, and more. We will discuss your desired investment during the Exploration Phase and further refine the budget throughout the Conceptual Design Phase, assuring full transparency before any work begins.

Our project minimum starts at $60,000 for a single room top-to-bottom home furnishings project (total investment including furnishings & design fees).
