Inspirations and Admirations

My aesthetic is anything but bland. I love every style out there, from formal, to casual, modern and sophisticated, I have a deep passion for all things interiors. Starting off my career as a yacht designer I am truly inspired by the sea- the nautical colors and brightness of living seaside is carried into the homes I design. I am drawn to all things funky, fun, and coastal! I do not shy away from pops of colors, and I love dramatic patterns. I tend to incorporate a lot of blue and cream tones in my project. Every detail matters, from the floor to the ceiling and everything in between. I design vacation homes for my clients to escape their day-to-day chaos- so I am inspired by the relaxing and calm details that are found on a beach.

In addition to my deep love and connection to the beach aesthetic, as I grow as a designer I am energized by many different styles. I love modern and contemporary design. A recent project I completed, The Brenton’s Cove Project, is different from any other home I have worked on in my career. It filled me with excitement and energy to explore this new design style for a client. The industry is constantly growing and inspiring me in many ways- here are a few design inspirations I am fond of right now.

Wallpapers and Fabrics

I use wallpaper and fabrics in so many of my projects. Not only does a fun wallpaper of fabric create texture, but it also fills the room with art.  Some of my go-to brands are Phillip Jeffries, Thibaut, Scalamandre, Romo, and Perennials

Statement Mirrors

Statement mirrors not only open up a space and bring in more light, but they also can add a lot of dimension and color. Finding a mirror with a fun shape or frame adds an extra detail to the room. I love adding statement mirrors in bathrooms and entryways, it welcomes both home owners and guests alike.

Chandeliers and Hanging Light Fixtures

Beach homes should feel luxurious, yet casual. A light fixture adds both a layer of light as well as texture and interest. It can make the space feel instantly more elevated.

Fifth Wall Features

Ceilings are easy to overlook, but I never do! There are so many fun things you can do with a ceiling- and it can be as elaborate or simple as you’d like! A layer of paint or wallpaper on the adds a unique element to the room, oftentimes brightening the space. I also like to add paneling or a rich texture.

Inspirational Women

For Women’s History Month,I cannot go without acknowledging the many women in this industry whom I admire. Learning about other creatives in the industry is so important for my personal and professional growth. The more brands I am able to work with, the more diverse I grow as a designer. I appreciate and look to other designers both of my time and throughout history.

Iris Apfel

Iris Apfel is such an icon. Born in the 1920's, she led a career as a textiles and interior designer. She’s designed for many VIP clients including the White House for 9 presidencies. She is still alive, and is making her mark on the modern day. She even has Instagram!

Dana Gibson

Notably, Dana Gibson started off as a textiles designer and has grown her business to include a wide collection of colorful fabrics, lighting, and home accessories “inspired by latitudes both far-flung and familiar.” Her patterns are so vibrant and classic, I keep going back for more! I idolize the way her brand has become a staple in the industry.

Elsie de Wolfe

Elsie de Wolfe is an absolute icon, known as “America’s first decorator.” Born in New York City during the Victorian era, she was a woman before her own time. Her elegance and glamorous style along with her whit and entrepreneurial mind allowed her to have huge success in the industry that still impacts design to this day. She designed for many high society clients.
